Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography
Examination for the displaying and therapy of affections of the bile duct and the excretory duct of the pancreas by flexible video-endoscopy.
A glass fiber is inserted, through mouth and stomach, into the duodenum. From there, thin catheters are brought forward into the bile duct or into the duct of the pancreas.
The intervention is elaborate and performed under X-ray fluoroscopy.
Due to the application of sedo-analgesia (depressant analgesia) the intervention is not cause painful.
